The function of the inter-axle differential assembly is to coordinate the rotational speeds of the drive wheels on the middle and rear axles, enabling the drive wheels of both axles to rotate at different speeds when the vehicle turns, thereby distributing engine power more efficiently. When a vehicle is cornering, the four drive wheels travel different distances; forcing all wheels to maintain the same rotational speed will cause severe interference between the tires and the ground, subject all transmission system components to enormous stress, and ultimately significantly shorten their service life or even cause damage.
